ASEAS(UK) invites scholars and practitioners from all disciplines and time periods whose work engages with Southeast Asia, to propose panels for our ongoing webinar series.
Panels on all areas of Southeast Asian studies are welcome, however those that explore the impact of COVID-19 will be particularly welcome.
We would like the Online Event Series to be a permanent fixture of ASEAS as we are committed to making changes to improve the environmental impact of our activities. We also hope these virtual events will foster new and productive networks and collaborations.
We encourage inventive panel formats, which take into consideration both the possibilities and the limitations of online interaction.
Example formats include:
- Flash papers
- Keyword/image sessions
- Discussion of pre-circulated papers
- Reading groups
- Pedagogical workshops
- Network meetings
Fully-formed session proposals should include a summary of the session’s aims and format, a short summary of the component presentations, along with a preferred duration, and any special requirements, up to a total of 500 words.
ASEAS(UK) is dedicated to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. We will give preference to panels that reflect the diversity of our field in terms of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and institutional affiliation. We will also give preference to panels that include a mix of participants from across the career spectrum (i.e., from postgraduate to Professor). All-male panel proposals will not be accepted.
Please email proposals and any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline for Submission 15 December 2020
