The Association of Southeast Asian Studies (ASEAS) is looking for a creative, digitally-savvy storyteller to help us amplify the voices and research of the global Southeast Asian Studies community.

The Role
As the Communications Director, you will be the digital face of ASEAS. Working alongside our Chair and Directors, you’ll work to engage a diverse global audience—including students, academics, and researchers – with ASEAS events, conferences and grants.
What you’ll do:
- Be the Voice: Manage and grow our presence across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Strategize: Design and execute dynamic media schedules that keep our community engaged and informed.
- Create Content: Craft captivating posts, blogs, and multimedia content that spotlight ASEAS events and membership benefits.
- Innovate: Stay ahead of digital trends to suggest new ways for ASEAS to connect with the world.
- Collaborate: Present quarterly updates to the Executive Committee, offering fresh ideas on how to evolve our digital brand.
Who You Are
You are a proactive communicator who understands that social media is about more than just “posting”—it’s about building relationships.
Your Toolkit:
- Digital Native: Advanced skills in social media management.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to analyze challenges and develop long-term communication goals.
- Editorial Eye: Sharp proofreading skills and an understanding of online best practices.
- Academic Ally: A genuine interest in Southeast Asian Studies and the higher education sector.
- Team Player: Equally comfortable working independently or collaborating within a small, dedicated team.
The Details
- Honorarium: £1,000 p/a
- Commitment: Part-time/Flexible, including quarterly Executive Committee meetings.
